Early thoughts on the iPad

I have just received my iPad and I have been using it for four days now and I have to say that,it’s feels refreshing again to use a device that was designed with user experience as the central focus.

So far , there are three things that have wowed me about the iPad but I’m sure there are still more to come. The iPad for me is not a giant iPod touch, neither a netbook replacement or a laptop computer, it’s an iPad, a new category that serves my big web appetite and ebook gluttony .Here are the three things I have found interesting so far :-

Battery life : A device with so much functionality having this much of battery life is just amazing,I think Apple’s 10 hours is quite modest. I streamed an amazing one hour of HD video over the Internet only to have consumed about 10% of my battery was simply amazing.

Web browsing : The web is new again. Web browsing on this device is just plain awesome period.

Speed : The device is fast, very fast. Switching between applications makes you forget that you are not multitasking. This fact coupled, with the lean back nature of the device made lack of multitasking a non-issue for me at the moment.

All in all, I am very happy with the iPad, I feel the same way, I felt when I dumped my HP ipaq for the iPod touch in 2007, the web was new again.

Blogged from my iPad.
